Nestled in the charming heart of Blackheath, London, Côte Blackheath offers a delightful escape into the world of modern French dining paired with the relaxed ambiance of a classic bistro. This inviting restaurant and bar masterfully blends traditional brasserie comforts with contemporary flair, making it an outstanding spot for breakfast, lunch, or dinner.
From the moment you step inside, the warm atmosphere – enhanced by friendly, attentive staff – invites you to unwind and savor the authentic flavors of France. Whether you're dropping by for a casual breakfast or an indulgent evening meal, Côte’s menu is a careful curation of French classics served with a touch of modern sophistication and a strong emphasis on fresh ingredients.
The array of dishes is impressive and thoughtfully crafted. Begin your day with their Champagne Breakfast or something lighter like Avocado on Toast and a perfectly brewed Café Latte. For lunch or dinner, the kitchen impresses with signature dishes like the robust Steak Tartare bursting with freshness, or the succulent Côte De Boeuf cooked just right. For seafood lovers, the Moules Marinière and Breton Fish Stew offer comforting, aromatic experiences enhanced by subtle hints of herbs and white wine. The Beef Bourguignon and Beef Cheek Bourguignon boast rich, slow-cooked tenderness that melts in your mouth, while the Steak Frites remain a timeless favorite, perfectly crispy and flavorful.
For those with dietary preferences, the presence of gluten-free and vegan options such as the Pistou Gnocchi with French beans and pine nuts, and the indulgent Chocolate Torte with Vegan Ice Cream shows Côte’s commitment to inclusive dining without sacrificing taste or creativity.
The starters and sharing plates here are equally enticing. The Charcuterie Board arrives beautifully arranged with truffle saucisson and Savoie ham, creating a delightful balance of flavors alongside complementary pickles. Or, indulge in the Fougasse Provençal, a heavenly sharing sourdough infused with garlic and cheese, perfect for sparking conversation and appetite alike.
The restaurant’s friendly, dog-welcoming nature adds an extra layer of warmth, making it a perfect spot for gatherings of all kinds. As regular visitor Halil Shair shares, the cozy setting, coupled with attentive service from staff like Nasim, makes every visit memorable. Families especially feel well catered for, with staff like Adrian praised for attentiveness and kindness toward children, ensuring a genuinely pleasant dining experience.
Customer feedback also highlights the excellent value found in the prix fixe weekday menu. Authee Au emphasizes the delicious combination of rich corn soup with mushrooms and the sumptuous fish parmentier—creamy, smooth, and packed with vibrant seafood flavors. Though there was a minor hiccup noted by another guest regarding the timing of a birthday cake surprise, such moments seem like rare exceptions in an otherwise polished service experience.
Whether you're craving the rich decadence of a Crème Brûlée or craving a perfectly prepared French onion soup with melting Camembert and frites, Côte Blackheath brilliantly captures the essence of French cuisine with an easy-going London twist. The stylish yet unpretentious environment pairs beautifully with their curated wine list, where a glass of robust red wine or crisp champagne can elevate your meal to something truly special.
In summary, Côte Blackheath is not just a restaurant—it's a genuine celebration of French culinary tradition served in a welcoming and thoughtfully designed space. It’s an ideal destination in Blackheath for food lovers seeking expertly prepared classics, warm hospitality, and a place where every visit feels like a sweet little escape to France.
Warm atmosphere and delicious food! They are dog friendly too… Thanks to Nasim for taking care of us tonight!
We always like to visit Côte when my parents visit. My father really annoys the quality of the food here. We noticed that the menu had been updated as well which looked really good. Our server was brilliant accommodating my mother’s wishes to just having poached eggs on toast which (wasn’t on the menu) I tried the French Toast (heavenly) and my husband and father ordered the breakfasts. Unfortunately we had to ask where the black pudding was as it had not been added to the plates for some reason? It was brought out to us eventually on separate plates. As ever, the coffee was extremely good and my mother was very touched by the birthday desert brought out to her, a lovely touch.
We tried the prix fixe weekday menu which is good value for money. Confit duck rarebit is tasty, cheese, poached egg & duck go really well. Rich corn soup with mushrooms is a great starter. For the main, you must try the fish parmentier, pawn & fish in rich & smooth cream sauce, crispy potato mash gives it extra taste. Staff is nice & friendly, providing right level of service. Will visit again to have their onion soup!
Food was top-notch, everyone on the table really enjoyed. However, if a guest brings a cake as a surprise, why would a server dishes out all the sharing plates, 5 minutes before bringing out the cake from the kitchen?? Well done, surprise ruined. Server should be trained to be more sensible.
Adrian was attentive, polite and very good with the children. Food came out quickly, which was ideal and was an overall pleasant experience. We had to burthdays to celebrate and were given a complentary dessert for the birthday guests. Thank you!
A group of us had our Christmas get together lunch at Cote. Everything was great. I want to especially mention the staff member who looked after us so well. Chiara was attentive, knowledgeable, helpful, good fun & and added bonus to our experience. Thank you to all the staff & Chiara. Happy xmas.
Took my partner here for a birthday breakfast and what a lovely way to start the day. Fresh, perfectly made breakfasts, calm and quiet atmosphere. Very attentive service
Delicious food - especially the steak fillet, Niçoise salad, and chocolate fondant. Very cosy atmosphere; a great place to spend time with your loved one. The staff are warm and pleasant, always happy to accommodate requests. Special thanks to Manager Nasim, who is always on top of things and truly cares about the customers. Highly recommended!
